But if you think about it, it’s kind of historically accurate? In old literary and film media, they would use all kinds of symbolism to sneak things past the censors.
The size of someones blade is the size of their ‘masculinity’. Vampires have always been a symbol for sexuality in movies and such, or more specifically, fear of sexuality. There has been gay subtext in vampire movies since forever.
So, yeah, in that sense, I think they’re just keeping up with tradition. But it’s total bullshit at this point. I like literary and visual symbolism as much as the next person, but somethings are more important.
